FAQs

What are the benefits of being organized? Why should I hire you?

  • There are many benefits to being organized.  Being ‘organized’ can:

    • lower your stress levels
    • increase your energy levels
    • lead to better eating habits
    • improve sleep habits
    • increase focus when completing tasks
    • increase your productivity
    • gain time to spend on the important things
    • help you take more control of your life
    • make your space more comfortable and calming

Are you going to make me get rid of everything?

  • Nope; only the stuff you are ready to get rid of. Without judgment, we come in with a professional and fresh perspective to get you started on the organization track.  We will guide you through the process to make sure you feel good about what you are keeping versus not keeping.

I’m really embarrassed about my house and mess, what if I don’t feel comfortable with someone in my house?

  • All of us are non-judgmental, supportive coaches to guide you in the process of organizing and collaborate with you to develop the strategies and systems that work best for your situation so that you are able to maintain these systems over time.

How long will my project take?

  • We will do our best to estimate a timeline for a project, however, each client and project is different. The time it takes to accomplish your goals will depend on many variables, such as how frequently we work together, how much work you are able to complete in between sessions (if any; this is not necessary) and how quickly you are able to make decisions.  We are with you every step of the way.

Do I need to clean up before our first meeting?

  • Absolutely not.  We will tour your space and discuss your needs and goals before we put any plans into action.  Don’t worry; we have seen it all!

What does a typical session look like?

  • Sessions are usually about 3-5 hours long, depending on how much work we want to get done and your schedule and needs.   In a typical session, we establish our goal(s) for that day and work our way through the overall plan.  We support your decisions about what to keep versus what not to keep and help you decide on a practical system for arranging your stuff.  We break the process of organization into achievable tasks.  We then suggest helpful organizing strategies, and collaborate with you on best ways to maintain the system we develop together.  Finally, we plan our next session depending on how much progress was made, and assign homework if applicable.

Do I need to be present during the sessions?

  • The organizing process is a collaborative one.  This is your space.  We want to make sure whatever system we create will work for you.  To do that, you will be involved in the decisions throughout the organization process.  That being said, there are times when we are only sorting your belongings, and you do not have to be present the entire time.

Will you donate my items? How does that work?

  • We will be happy to take items to a local collection agency for a small fee, but if large items or a substantial number of items are being donated, scheduling a collection pickup may be necessary.  We will help to ensure your items are donated or disposed of in eco-friendly ways.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Appointments canceled within 72 hours of a scheduled appointment time are subject to a cancellation charge of 50% of scheduled work.

How do I pay for your services?

  • We accept cash, Zelle, Venmo, checks or credit cards.  A 50% deposit is due at time of booking, with balance due the day of your first session.

What if I’m feeling embarrassed about my mess. Is our work together confidential?

  • Absolutely!  We abide by the NAPO code of ethics and all of our work together will be confidential. We are not here to judge. We are here to help and support you through this process.

Can my kids be home during our sessions?

  • While we are working together on your goals, younger children (ages 1-7) may be a distraction and lessen the amount of progress we make during a session.  We recommend you drop them at Grandma’s, schedule a playdate, or hire a sitter for the duration of our session.  However, older children (ages 8 and up) can be included in the organization process-if they are motivated and interested, especially if we are working in their own spaces such as playrooms or bedrooms.

What if I need more help after we complete the project?

  • Sometimes a little refresher check-in is needed and we are happy to help you tweak your system.  Feel free to contact us and we can either chat with you virtually, or plan a refresher session.

Is there a travel fee?

  • Travel up to 40 miles round trip from Downtown San Diego is included in our fees.  Fees will apply when travel exceeds 40 miles.

Are you vaccinated against Covid-19?

  • Yes; all of us are fully vaccinated, get regular boosters against Covid-19, and will wear masks in your home if you prefer.

How do I get started?
